Is if your car is parked in a inclined space and its hot (D3 Gold). When inclined the gas might flow to the engine where it expects vapor and not liquid. The other reason is when its HOT outside gasoline will expand and then cause it to travel to the engine - again expecting vapor not liquid. If you DO NOT have those concerns nothing wrong with filling your tank to first click shut off. Do not fill past that click. On some vehicles over filling causes problem while other will tolerate it. Even if you continue your practice as it is - it is still not wrong.
